The Referee lights at a powerlifting meet need to be three things.... Reliable, Reliable, and RELIABLE!

As an IPF Referee for 20+ years, I've seen lot of light systems. Wireless is very hot these days, great idea, but I have yet to see one that works instantly, every time. Line of sight problems, switch batteries go dead, whatever. Fancy systems from the IPF also, using software and a computer screen to show the "lights". Great, until it stopped working. Not to mention the 900 Euro price.

The new DRL system is quite reliable, an excellent system actually, but costs $1199 USD, plus the cost of a display monitor.

There's just nothing as reliable as an old fashioned wired system. StrongArm Sport's lights will work, every time (barring a broken bulb), and is your best value for 2 or 3 times a year use.

Features:
- 50 feet of cable for each switch
- wired to IPF specs, no lights come on until all switches are flipped one way or the other
- sturdy plywood construction
- commercial grade vinyl covering (the same used on guitar amps and similar
- protective corners and aluminum edge molding
- all cables fit inside the back of the case.
- front panel hinges open for easy bulb replacement.
- standard white bulbs are used, easily replaced (60 watt LED equivalent)
- carry strap on top.
- tripod hole on the bottom, fits standard size PA system stands available at music stores for $40 - $50
- usually have at least one on hand, but if not, its 2 or 3 day for construction.

These are a homemade style device, not CSA certified.

Junk

Do not buy this set of lights. They are unsafe. They look nice, and seem well built, but that’s it. They are not made in a manufacturing facility, there is no CSA or UL label certifying the product is safe to use. All the wiring is incorrect. Wrong size gauge of wire to carry the load if the lights. Wrong insulation type for the supply voltage of 120 volts. The cord supplied and hard wired to the unit is a cutoff end of an extension cord. The cables going to the judges switches are telephone cables not meant to carry anything more than 24 volts DC, which are directly wired to 120 volts that turns the lights on and off. These are a safety hazards and an injury or property damage incident waiting to happen if it hasn’t already happened on any of these units that have already been sold.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

In our defense, we've never said that they were anything but a home made device, like you might make yourself. Today's modern light bulbs draw very low amps, due to their low wattage, and it's the amps that are dangerous, not the voltage.

Most importantly, we've made and sold probably 120 units, and have not a single report of anyone being harmed by them in any way, not a single report.

Homemade

The ref box works. But the quality is poor. The box is not flush. The doors to open it are not square. There’s a gap that starts at 1/8” and is about 1/2” by the time it gets to the other corner. Both the doors are like this.

Outstanding Light System - The Best!

I have been running events for 40 years and running the American Powerlifting Association for 33. This is absolutely the best light system I have ever used. Light, compact, and easy to transport. I highly recommend this system to anybody who runs events. You can't go wrong with this system and it has more features than others that cost more. A+
